Optima made completely in Reason 4

In this tutorial I will show you how I created this fantasy manipulation in Photoshop CS6. I will use the usual composition techniques. Some topics covered are creating realistic shadows, matching the depth of field of several elements of the composition, creating bloody tears and creating a broken wing. I will also show you the combination of blend modes and adjustment layers I used to achieve the color effects.

Adjustment layers are one of the most important features for me when it comes to photo manipulations. I use them a lot because it's a non destructing way of working and it allows me, once the artwork is finished, to make adjustments and make it all look the way I want.

In this tutorial you will see how making use of Fill Layers, Gradient Maps and Photo Filters you can create any ambient light and color that you want.

The Lighting Effects filter is really useful to change the general lighting on an image. It cannot be used to completely change the light setup so make sure you get things right on location if you're shooting the photo yoursel.

I this short tutorial I'll show you how I use this filter although I use it in almost all my manipulations so this is more like a review.
